I got into insurance the same way most people do — chasing opportunity. I heard about the flexibility, the income potential, and the chance to build something real. What I didn’t hear about was everything else.
Nobody told me how steep the learning curve actually was. Nobody explained that getting licensed was just the starting line — not the finish. Nobody warned me that I’d spend money on leads before I truly knew how to serve the people I was calling.
I made the mistakes most new agents make. I tried to sell before I understood the products. I picked the wrong FMO. I ran out of runway before I ran out of determination. And at some point along the way, something shifted.
I stopped focusing on making a sale and started focusing on helping the person in front of me. I stopped chasing commissions and started building relationships. And ironically, that’s when the results finally came.
